Chad Daybell Update

Verdict Reached in Chad Daybell Triple Murder Trial

Jury Finds Daybell Guilty of First-Degree Murder

A jury in Idaho on Thursday found Chad Daybell guilty of first-degree murder in the killings in 2019 of his ex-wife Tammy Daybell, Joshua "JJ" Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16.

The verdict concludes Daybell's nearly two-month trial in the deaths of his ex-wife and his two stepchildren. The killings sent shockwaves across the country and sparked a national search for Tylee and JJ, who were last seen in September 2019.

During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Daybell had planned the murders of his ex-wife and stepchildren in order to collect insurance money and marry his then-mistress Lori Vallow Daybell. Witnesses testified that Daybell had made incriminating statements about the murders and that he had researched methods of killing people.

Daybell's defense attorneys argued that he was not responsible for the murders and that he had been under the spell of Lori Vallow Daybell, who they said was the mastermind behind the crimes. However, the jury rejected this argument and found Daybell guilty on all charges.

The verdict marks a major victory for prosecutors and brings closure to the families of the victims. Daybell is now facing the possibility of life in prison without parole.
